AAC Specialist

Maria De Leon is a bicultural and bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who specializes in Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from San Francisco State University (SFSU), where she received a specialization certificate in culturally responsive AAC service provision. With over ten years of experience in the special education sector as an SLP, response to intervention (RTI) teacher, and early intervention specialist, Maria is dedicated to giving back to communities by focusing on evidence-based practices and supporting individuals with complex communication needs. Maria has presented seminars and workshops for a variety of educational conferences. She is the founder of VocesAAC and co-founder of BilingueAAC. She manages the Instagram account @mariadeleonslp, where she shares content related to AAC SLP.
